Burros carrying goods

In the mountains of Nepal pack animals such as these burros are used to carry goods down the rocky trails. While animals are still the major means of transporting goods across the mountains of Nepal, air-based transportation and road networks have significantly expanded in the mountains since 1984. A woman walks in the opposite direction carrying a pitcher and a bamboo basket called a doko — its funnel-shaped is designed to carry heavy loads. Wires overhead indicate that this village has electricity.
