Betty Friedan (1921–2006)
Friedan became the voice of women in her generation first through her 1963 book "The Feminine Mystique” and later as co-founder of the National Organization for Women (1966). She also led the campaign for ratification of a proposed Equal rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
