A bald eagle with outspread wings, the symbol of the United States of America, is perched atop the obelisk. The center of the obelisk contains a rectangular plaque with an inscription. This plaque is flanked on the right and bottom by medallions representing each of the five branches of the armed forces (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard).
